If It Doesn’t Feel Right at the Planning Stage, We Won’t Release It

The moment BRADELIS chooses to stop
In product development, there are moments when it feels tempting to say, “We’ve come this far—let’s just move forward.”
The materials are ready.
The factory is prepared.
The schedule is tight.
Everything is in place except the final step into production.
And yet, even at that stage, BRADELIS may choose to stop.
No matter how ready the factory may be, if our founder is not fully satisfied, the product goes back to the planning stage. And that decision is never limited to just one review.
What matters to us is not whether a product has already progressed this far. What matters is whether the final result truly feels right.
A real development story
A good example is a product we developed using silk satin. The materials we initially selected simply could not deliver the finish we had envisioned. No matter how many times we revised the pattern, something still felt off. We could have moved forward while accepting that lingering sense that something was not quite right.
But in the end, we made a different choice: we changed the material itself.
Even though the original material had already been purchased, we switched to a new one in pursuit of a better final result. Of course, that meant more cost and more work. Still, we chose to prioritize one principle above all: if we are not fully convinced, we do not release it.
Founder’s principle
Our founder often says,
“If it’s only going to become waste in the end, it’s better not to release it at all.”
It may sound blunt. But behind those words is a deep commitment to our customers.
When a product is released for the convenience of the maker or the seller, it will ultimately disappoint customers. And disappointment in one product can lead to a loss of trust in the brand itself. That is why we choose to protect long-term value over short-term convenience.

Working directly with makers
This is also why we value working directly with fabric and lace manufacturers whenever possible. Compared with working through agents or trading companies, direct communication allows us to convey our vision and detailed requirements more clearly and thoroughly.
By carefully aligning on the material’s appearance and hand feel, as well as how it looks and feels when worn, we move closer to the result we envision.
The unseen cost of starting over
Of course, decisions like these come with real costs and challenges.
What do we do with materials we have already purchased?
How should the pattern be reworked?
How should the development schedule be rebuilt?
None of that is simple.
Even so, BRADELIS has continued to take on those challenges in order to stand by one promise: we deliver only what we truly believe in.
What the price reflects
We believe that bringing a product into the world requires that level of commitment.
The real question is not whether it can meet the launch schedule.
It is whether it deserves to be placed in our customer’s hands.
That standard is part of what our pricing reflects—not only the materials and specifications, but also all of the unseen decisions made along the way.
It takes courage to release a product.
But perhaps even greater courage is knowing when not to.
We will continue to face that difficult choice with honesty and care, crafting each product with the meticulous attention it deserves.
